No matter what size you are, commenting on someone’s weight can be a very sensitive subject for them

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

Tell me your story. What do you want people to know about who you are and why you are participating in this project?

I am participating in the Body Love Project because I feel like when people think of women who are unhappy or insecure with their body, they think of women who want to lose weight. I don’t think a lot of people realize that women with “thin” bodies are insecure as well. I struggle a lot with loving myself and my body. 50% of people will say “you’re so lucky that you never gain weight” not realizing that I am actually trying everything to gain weight because the other 50% of people are asking if I am ill or on drugs. I am doing this project because I want to see myself as beautiful and not a “bone rack” and I want to help bring awareness to the fact that no matter what size you are, commenting on someone’s weight can be a very sensitive subject for them.

Tell me about all of your favourite features and the things you would like to emphasize in your photos! This can include physical body parts or a part of your personality!

I am unsure of how to answer this .... I don’t exactly have a favourite feature about myself ... Are you nervous about having boudoir portraits done? Tell me about your feelings leading up to your shoot.

I am VERY nervous! I am so anxious and I am already judging myself hoping and praying that the photos don’t show all the flaws I see in myself.

What do you want other women to think and feel when they view your portraits in your featured blog post? Is there anything else you want to share?

I am hoping that in my portraits you will be able to see a confident person and I want women to see that no matter how many insecurities you may have, you can still feel and look beautiful!

Now that your session is over, how do you feel about the experience? Was it everything you had hoped?

Yes

Tell me something that you learned about yourself from having this experience.

I learned that I am able to fight through my insecurities and have fun without worrying so much!

If you were nervous before, tell me when your nervousness disappeared?

I was super nervous at first! My nervousness disappeared probably about 30 minutes into my shoot. Christina is one hell of a hype girl and gave me a glance at a few photos and helped me see myself in a different light and made me feel super comfortable.

Do you have a final message or take-away from the Body Love Project?

I am very grateful for this experience. It helped me feel more comfortable in my skin and feel more confident about my body!
