WHY I STARTED TAKING MORE PHOTOS OF MYSELF—AND WHY YOU SHOULD, TOO

Updated: Jun 22, 2021

Alright! I know, it's a weird thought! I mean what would I even be taking pictures of myself for? What purpose would it serve me? I loved being the one behind the camera but how come I never just focused on pictures of me?

I had this astonishing fear of being judged. What if some of my family disowns me for being overly sexual through my images? Stepping out of my comfort zone was a huge step. Learning to face my fears and becoming who I am was painful. BUT I PROMISE YOU IT WAS WORTH EVERY STEP OF THE WAY! We’ve all seen or heard someone complain about selfie culture but you should ignore all those people, because the benefits of taking selfies are pretty great. We at Christina Marie Intimate Portraits are certified selfie fans! Here are my 5 top reasons on why I started taking more photos of myself, and why you should, too!

1. Law Of Attraction

Ever heard of law of attraction and wondered what exactly this is and how can I use it? Perfect! You're reading the right blog and you are exactly where you need to be in this exact moment! You have to start with being conscious of every conversation you have with your family, friends and even co-workers who focus on the things that are missing from their life. You want to attract something in your life. Something good, something amazing, well being, or even health. But, if you are still talking about what is missing and thinking about whats missing. You will continue to expand more of whats missing, and you will continue to attract whats missing in your life. So you may ask "Okay, Christina, I get it but how does this relate to selfies?" It's about changing your mind set to this idea and not putting your thoughts on whats missing and shifting it to "It's on its way." I want to be confident in my own skin. I want to be empowered. I want to love myself so incredibly much that it does not matter what anyone else says. I know my worth. I know who I am and I am loved for it.

No, I might not feel that way all the time but IT'S ON IT'S WAY! It's coming because I am BADASS and I DESERVE IT.

2. Confidence

Taking a selfie where you can recognize all your beautiful physical characteristics can have a pretty positive effect on your mood! The more I invested on learning to take pictures of myself the more confidence I built and the more my self-esteem sky rocketed! When you put on those jeans that fit you just right or wake up with an amazing kind of bed hair that looks like it took hours, there's certain air of confidence that stays with you all damn day. You feel great, you look great and lord almighty, you are great. SO WHENEVER YOU FEEL AWESOME TAKE A DARN PICTURE OF YOURSELF! <3

3. Self-Expression

Maybe you aren’t the most artistically inclined. Learning to paint or draw can take years

of study. But everyone can learn to take a picture of themselves, and selfies give you a

chance to try out things like sultry make-up, daring hairstyles, and new outfits, and to

share those images with others while tracking our own personal changes. We are always

changing and growing, and having a medium to explore that is important!

4. They Capture Our Emotions

Women in particular tend to take and post selfies most often when they’re happy.

Capturing these moments of joy is important, and reliving them can increase our own happiness when looking back. This is a positive thing, and might even give us an extra boost on the days when we maybe aren’t feeling so great.

5. It's fun and helps you become your best self!

Posting high points in life increases confidence, empowerment, gratitude, and appreciation through mindfulness, and the ability to visualize desired outcomes. Look, sometimes it’s just fun to pose and take a few snapshots when we feel sexy or confident or joyful! There are a lot of things in this world that cause us stress, or that make us question our own beauty and worth. If stopping for a few moments to take a

selfie offers relief from all of that, even for just a few seconds, it’s worth it!

At the end of the day, selfies are important. It’s good for us, and there’s a reason memes exist screaming at us to JUST LET PEOPLE ENJOY THINGS. So babes, whether you’re smiling in front of a prime vacay location, pouting sexily for the camera, or showing off your latest outfit, take those selfies! Relive those moments where you felt happy or sexy or empowered or confident, and most of all; don’t listen to anyone who tries to tell you to stop.
